This course will provide a review of the most commonly used interoception measures, including in-depth instruction on the use of 2 specific assessment tools: The Comprehensive Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness & Observation Scale of Interoception Experience

Using methods that can help us gain insight into the interoception experiences of the clients we serve can be extremely valuable. However, when it comes to interoception-based assessment, it can be very confusing to know where to start, what tool to use and how to adapt an assessment in order to meet the needs of a variety of learners. This live course will provide many practical assessment tips and strategies that can be used to help us to better gain better understanding of our clients’ inner experiences, which in turn leads to our ability to support them in the most meaningful manner.

In this course, we explore the pros and cons of the 3 types of interoception measures: Objective Measures; Self-Report Measures; Observation-Based/Caregiver Report. And then we will zoom in and focus on application of 2 specific interoception assessment tools:

  1. The Comprehensive Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness
  2. Observation Scale of Interoception Experience

Instruction on how to use these assessment tools will be provided as well as tips on how to adapt these assessment tools for successful use with a variety of learners.
